long tradition in Long Beach and San Pedro continued on as hundreds of 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 10th grade students at local schools entered the 2009 Buono’s School Poetry Contest. The students tackled the question “If you could be anyone in Italian history, who would you be?" After judging the hundreds of enteries, Buono's is proud to present the winners! (more)

The poems honor Italy’s heritage and culture, as well its rich history filled with inventors, artists, educators, scientists, explorers, fashion designers, and many others.
As we look back at the nearly past decade, we applaud the many teachers, administrators, and parents who have helped to make this a wonderful educational experience for the students.
A huge thank you to every student who has ever participated in the competition! You are to be applauded for your creativity and great talents. We appreciate your honoring the Italian heritage and our restaurant. We love hosting the competition each year…and are so lucky to be able to create the food that children love so much!
